Panshanger Golf Complex: Greenkeepers Schedule

Course Works - Delayed due to poor weather.

Update 09.05.2012

Due to the recent very poor weather the planned work for the greens has had to be cancelled and therefore hollow coring and subsequent sand dressings will no longer be taking place this spring. In order to improve the greens they will be fertilised and top dressed (as soon as the weather allows) which will provide a smoother green and a better roll. The weather must be dry and sunny for a few days in order for us to complete this task otherwise the dressings and fertiliser will be washed away. We thank you for your patience and support for any disruptions caused if the work has to be completed at short notice due to a dry spell.

Update - 03.05.2012

Work hasn't been able to take place as the conditon of the greens, due to the large amounts of rainfall, has made them unstable and therefore they would be torn apart by the machinary plus fertiliser is to be used and that would have been washed away by the rainfall.

We will look for the earliest opportunity to complete the intended work.

Update - 25.04.12

Due to the current and predicted weather conditons, the work due to take place on the greens next week may be delayed. This is due to the fact that the procedure may damage the greens as they are not dry enough and to be able to dress the greens correctly, 3 days of dry conditions are needed.

This means that the procedure may be done at short notice without the opportunity to inform players in advance but we have to take the opportunity when it appears.

Original Message:

The team at Panshanger had intended to continue with the STRI plan of injecting the greens with sand and seed (Graden) in the month of May. This plan has been altered due to the enforced hosepipe ban which restricts the volume of water needed to complete the procedure correctly.

They will now hollow core (Not to be confused with Verti-Draining) and dress the greens. This work will start on the 1st May and, weather permitting, take 2 days to complete.

As always, we hope to keep the disruption of your golf to a minimum and appreciate your patience as this needed work takes place.

Laurel Bushes out on the Course:

At the earliest opportunity, the team will be planting new Laurel Bushes out on the course in specific areas as detailed below. These laurels are the first plants to come onto the course from the nursery that we maintain at PGC.

1st Tee Box Bank / 9th Hole Bank

Trees and Bushes around the Course:

The team have been working on the trees around the course during the winter season. The next stage of this process will commence in the next few weeks. Some of the decisions have been made for Health & Safety reasons, some for the benefit of the how the courses plays but all have been carefully considered before any action has been approved.
