To fish at Stanborough Park you will need:
A National Rod License (12+ years)
A Day Ticket

Day Ticket Fishing is permitted on the south lake all year round sunrise to sun set on designated swims only.
The closed season on the River Lea is from 15th March – 15th June annually. Anglers over the age of 12 are required to hold a national rod licence available from the Post office or online at www.environment-agency.gov.uk .

Payment is made via machines in the south car park - please note machines only take £1 coins. Please bring change for machines in advance of your visit.

Day tickets should be purchased from the Fishing Ticket machines available onsite.
Anglers are required to set up on one of the designated swims around the lake and commence fishing (max 2 rods per swim / max 3 rods October - March).

Day tickets must be produced to the Park Team, Bailiff or any authorised WGC Angling Club official on request.

Rules in brief:

  • No keep nets
  • Barbless hooks only
  • Ground bait must be mixed with feeder only
  • Method feeders are banned
  • Peanuts and tiger nuts are banned
  • Lines can be cast maximum 2 rod lengths from the bank (No interfering with other water users. Watersports craft have priority and consideration must be given for the safety of other water users at all times)

Anglers can bring their own bait. There is a tackle shop on site for more information please call 07530 971 634.

If you have walking disabilities or use a wheel chair designated swims are available on the eastern bank of the lake. Ground conditions permitting we allow blue badge holders to have vehicular access to the designated swims. To arrange access please call reception on: 01707 276 276 (option 3)
