BCU Adult 2 Star Kayaking

The BCU 2 Star award is run as 2 separate courses at Stanborough Park. The first covers BCU 2 Star Training and the second covers the assessment. This is due to the time needed to practice and gain experience from the training stage to the assessment level.

BCU 2 Star Training

This 2 Star course develops skills learnt during the 1 Star award and introduces some of the more advanced techniques such as support strokes. The course helps to create independence in the sport, and looks more into safety when on the water.

Experience: BCU 1 Star or equivalent + must be able to swim 25m wearing a buoyancy aid
Time: 10:00 – 16:30

BCU 2 Star Assesment

Due to the nature of the BCU course specifications, trips are needed to complete your 2 Star Award. To help with this, the assessment will be run as part of a journey.

These assessments will take place outside of Stanborough Park at destinations within one hours drive of the Park. Locations will be finalised closer to the dates and will depend on the group and water levels in the local rivers.

Experience: BCU 1 Star or equivalent + must be able to swim 25meters with a buoyancy aid + experience of 2 different craft + participation in 2 competitions or 2 journeys of at least 2 hours (the assessment counts as one trip.)
